Debunking the Claim:
A Google reverse image search—a way of looking for the online history of an image online—returns no similar results for the photo allegedly showing Lam Paul’s arrest.
A keyword search for “SPLA-IO spokesperson Lam Paul Gabriel, who has been operating from exile in Uganda, has been arrested by the Ugandan Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence,” doesn’t return any credible news reports.
Lam Paul Gabriel said in a communication through his official Facebook page that “the trending fake news about his arrest should be disregarded because he was fine and that the image shared was a Photoshop of an online image shared online.”
A reverse image search on the photo shared by Lam Paul Gabriel returns results that date the photo back to between two and three years ago.
