Debunking the Claim:
A Google Lens reverse image search (archived) shows the photo was taken in Malawi, and the caption in Chichewa (the language used in Malawi) says, “Izizi zikuchitikad koma guys, Cybertruck”, which translates to “This is really happening, guys, Cybertruck” (in English).
The below screenshot of the Google Lens search shows the same cybertruck photo with a number plate BZ 13482 and the same building in the background was shared on a Malawian Facebook group on 1 October 2024, by Itss Majeed Sila.
Auto Freak is a Facebook page with an introduction. ‘Your daily dose of everything automotive!’ We’re here for the love of cars, bikes, and all things on wheels. Uses the same image of the same truck, although with a different background.

This proves that the Tesla Cybertruck car was first posted by a Malawian Facebook page, not Juba.
While it is true that Juba currently has no electric car charging stations, the claim that this particular Cybertruck was spotted there is false. Despite the fact that the image was first shared in 2024, here are other links that were shared before BBC TopGear, DubaiCars, and Baidu. It shared this, along with others, including the interior of the truck, in 2023, explaining in details the Cybertruck
Because on checking the image deeply, there are errors, like the shadow of the image being on the opposite side of the picture, which shows it was inserted there.
Our Verdict:
The ClarityDesk has found the claim by Insight Juba that a Tesla Cybertruck car worth $117,235 was spotted in Juba, South Sudan, to be false. The post is misleading content shared with the intention to mislead people. The same image has been on the internet since 2023, in different countries and used for various reasons.
