The Peoples Coalition for Civil Action South Sudan 15th Independence Anniversary Statement

The People’s Coalition for Civil Action (PCCA) commemorates the fifteenth anniversary of South Sudan’s independence by reflecting on the sacrifices made for freedom and sovereignty. Despite the monumental achievement of independence on July 9, 2011, the PCCA acknowledges a painful truth: the state has not delivered the just, democratic, and prosperous society promised. Instead, power is concentrated among a narrow elite, mirroring the oppression faced under past regimes. The struggle for independence has devolved into violence and competition for state resources, which undermines the foundational ideals of justice and accountability.
