A Facebook post (archived) claiming that SSBC journalist Gore Anthony has been appointed as the press secretary in the Office of the President is false.
“Amb. David Amour Majur has been relieved, and Gore Anthony has been appointed as the Press Secretary in the Office of the President,” a post published by The Republican Watch, a Facebook page, reads in part.
The post was accompanied by a photograph featuring Gore Anthony (left) and Ambassador David Amour Majur (right).

Debunking the Claim:
A Google keyword search for “Gore Anthony appointed new presidential press secretary” conducted by The ClarityDesk led to a statement from Anthony’s official Facebook page refuting the claims.
In the post, Anthony explicitly dismissed the rumours, writing: “Please discard claims or articles circulating on social media that I am being appointed as the press secretary in the office of the president.”
“Amb. David Amour Majur is still the active press secretary in the Office of the President,” his post continued, clarifying that no such personnel change had occurred.
Historically, appointments within the Office of the President are made via presidential decrees announced through the South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) TV and Radio. However, as of a week ago, the Office of the President had issued a ban (archived) on the issuance of decrees through SSBC.
Ambassador David Amour Majur was appointed as the Press Secretary in the Office of the President in mid-February 2025. To verify the current claims, The ClarityDesk reviewed the official communication channels of the Office of the President; however, no formal notices regarding the appointment or relief of senior officials have been issued.
Furthermore, the official social media page for the Office of the President has shown no recent activity, with the last update posted four days ago.
Our Verdict:
The ClarityDesk finds the claim making rounds that journalist Gore Anthony has been appointed the presidential press secretary, replacing David Amour Majur, to be false.
The Office of the President has issued no official decree regarding the said appointment, and no reports of the alleged appointment have been published by any mainstream media outlets in the country.
