A Facebook public page posted on 11 November 2025 a photo of Benjamin Bol Mel with the caption “RIP” indicating that he is dead, but the claim is false.
“Bad new at this morning Bol mel Rip,” the post by Facebook user Vivi William reads in part. It was widely shared in several groups.

Debunking the Claim:
There are no reliable reports confirming Benjamin Bol Mel’s death.
Credible news reports also show that Benjamin Bol Mel was in office on 12 November 2025 just hours before he was fired later that evening.
On 13 November 2025, Benjamin Bol Mel thanked President Salva Kiir for the opportunity to serve both in government and within the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) through a letter, two days after the claim of his death on 11 November 2025.
The confusion may stem from the dramatic nature of his dismissal and house arrest, which some people online may have misinterpreted or exaggerated.
Our Verdict:
The ClarityDesk finds the claim that former Vice President for Economic Cluster, Benjamin Bol Mel has rested in peace (RIP) to be false. Benjamin Bol Mel was in office on 12 November 2025 just hours before he was fired later that evening.
