Ownership & Funding Information

The ClarityDesk is committed to transparency in our ownership structure and funding sources.

The ClarityDesk is a project of the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS), a national nongovernmental organisation registered by the South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) with Registration Number 3,852. Launched on 1 June 2025, The ClarityDesk has since been expanding every day to become one of the most leading, credible and reliable media integrity projects in South Sudan.

Governance

The project is managed by the following key staff

  • Emmanuel Bida Thomas – Project Director & Chief Editor
  • Jibi Moses Korsuk – Project Manager & Managing Editor

Funding

The ClarityDesk project received its first funding from Africtivistes through the Election Civic Tech Fund within the AHEAD Africa and Digitalise Youth projects, led by the Digital Democracy Initiative. Before that funding, as a start-up, we covered our expenses with individual financial contributions from our founding members, Emmanuel Bida and Jibi Moses, to purchase the domain and medium membership. We do not take any payouts or deals from any entities or individuals to write favourable material about them. We put quality independent journalism at the service of our audience. With specialised editors and a network of contributors, we debunk bad information to promote a healthy information ecosystem in South Sudan.

As The ClarityDesk project grows into a bigger media integrity brand, the founders may no longer be able to meet the financial requirements of a bigger project.

The ClarityDesk is humbly asking donations from our audience, well-wishers and friends of the truth. The support will enhance our capacity to build on our existing online content dissemination channels to increase their ability to collect, edit and distribute quality content on fact-checking, information verification, solutions, and data journalism.

The proposed project capacity development for The ClarityDesk will enhance its effectiveness in these two areas:

  • Human Resources (Project Staff and Contributors)
  • Technological empowerment through digital tools subscriptions
  • Technological empowerment through equipment purchases

The support will enable us to provide non-biased, factual and informative content that does not lean to any partisan side. This will ensure that we maintain a degree of independence and present all sides to the issues without creating an impression of undue influence from any entities or individuals.
