Press Statement: Inaugural Session of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly

On April 20, 2026, the Transitional National Legislative Assembly of South Sudan held a significant session led by the Rt. Hon. Speaker Joseph Ngere Paciko. The session commenced at 10:35 AM and concluded at 11:48 AM, with a turnout of 310 members, exceeding the quorum of 183. Speaker Paciko emphasized his commitment to uphold the law impartially and protect the rights of members to speak freely. He also encouraged public engagement by allowing citizens to attend the session. The Assembly discussed key issues, including the presentation of the RJMEC Quarterly Report by H.E. Ambassador Major General George Aggrey Owinow and a motion on pension contributions introduced by Hon. David De Dau.
