A claim (archived link) being spread on social media that Rin Tueny Mabor was appointed as South Sudan’s Vice President for the Economic Cluster, deputy Commander-in-Chief and first deputy for SPLM, is false.
South Sudan Eye, a Facebook page which describes itself as a news personality, claimed in a post published on 7 November 2025 that the current governor of Lakes State, Rin Tueny Mabor, was appointed the Vice President of the economic cluster and made the deputy Commander-in-Chief.

Debunking the Claim:
Rin Tueny Mabor currently serves as the Governor of Lakes State. He has held this position since 2021, and his role remains at the state level.
He has neither been appointed as a Vice President for the Economic nor as deputy commander-in-chief as no credible media reports or documents confirm such a claim.
Government appointments to key positions in South Sudan are made through presidential decrees read on the state-run South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC).
Our Verdict:
The ClarityDesk finds the claim that Rin Tueny Mabor has been the Vice President for Economic Cluster, the deputy Commander-in-Chief and first deputy for SPLM to be false. No presidential decree has been issued to confirm the appointment at the time of publishing this article.
